Hi, I’m Nick Davies. If you like discovering music that doesn’t fit neatly into one box, you’ll feel at home with Crazeology.

My interest started with my parents’ records, discovering rock and roll and classic crooners on a secondhand record player. I even persuaded my mum to buy a pair of shoes because they came with a free copy of Don’t Go Breaking My Heart by Elton John and Kiki Dee.

By the early 80s, a school friend and I were using two turntables at home and pretending we were on the radio. I listened to Iron Maiden and AC/DC then, before discovering pirate stations such as Radio Caroline and Laser 558 while living in Kent.

I loved hearing DJs choose freely from their own record collections. It showed me how much personality there could be in the music someone chose to share.

Later, hearing Kiss and JFM while working in London drew me towards soul and disco. All those different influences still shape what I choose to play.

Crazeology takes a broad approach to jazz and the music around it. You’ll hear new releases alongside older tracks, with room for something unexpected.
